Spring Road Race Preview
Strong fields entered for the Roy Thame Cup and Spring Chicken Road Races
It's Springtime and that means road race season is starting. For the Hemel it's time to run our early season classic races the Roy Thame Cup for the elites and Spring Chicken cup for the lower categories.
The races take place this Saturday, 10th March just South of Buckingham.
The morning race, the Spring Chicken has it's usual full field of 3rd and 4th cat riders aiming to score some early season points. Some will rise to the top, some will just be trying to find their race legs and some will undoubtably be in for a bit of a shock as they find out how hard road racing is!!
Most of the local clubs have some representation so if you're not helping why not have a ride out and cheer them on. The race starts at 9:30 and covers 70 km.
The afternoon race seeing the normal mix of local 2nd and 1st cats trying to hang on with the professional teams. The new Holdsworth squad is looking pretty strong, as are Madison Genisis and Nuun-Sigma Sports.
Expect a very hard race with the field breaking apart as the kilometers are covered. The Roy Thame cup starts at 13:30 and covers 120 km.
HQ is the The Royal Latin School. MK18 1AX.
Gavin will I'm sure still appreciate any extra offers for help if you can spare some time.
